Alene Poh – Founder of Breakthrough & Grow

Alene Poh’s move from flight attendant to wealth consultant gave her the opportunity to change her life and the lives of others.

What’s your story?

I used to be an air stewardess, then I moved from the airline industry to the finance industry as a Private Wealth Consultant. I did my first Million Dollar Round Table in my first year, many more after that and I set up my own business later.

What excites you most about your industry?

The training school is really exciting as I pieced up my own personal experience in the sales industry to teach adults on what worked and what did not. I focused heavily on service, ideas on how to better service your clients and to ensure a sustainable business driven by constant referrals. I also teach about adapting with the new norm and how to bring our business online and yet still create an amazing client experience.

What drives you in business to push beyond what other people consider normal?

It is always about being better than what you used to be able to achieve. If we are not growing, we are dying.

What have been the most useful skills you have learnt and applied in your journey?

About being willing to give yourself the chance to restart and start from scratch no matter what level you are at. The moment you give up, that is the end. So to the trick is never to give up.

What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?

Do what is most uncomfortable as the majority of the people will not choose that. There is where you find treasure.

Who inspires you?

There are many who inspire me. It is normal to feel off somedays so what I would do is to force myself to always be inspired.  I would drive around my dream houses many times and visualise myself living there. I would also be thinking to myself, what would these people do if they were me.

What have you learnt recently that blew you away?

I have learnt that the biggest room is the room for improvement. If you think you are already at your PEAK, you are the best always, then you are shutting doors for improvement.

If you had your time again, what would you do differently?

I would have started my entrepreneurship earlier, investing and being more prudent with my earnings since I was a student.

How do you unwind?

I read. Reading gives me ideas from many amazing and successful people.

What is a major mindset change, belief shift or ‘ah ha’ moment that you’ve experienced in relation to your business?

I was always driven by awards and recognition. When I started to realise that it is more important to have the people that you love with you at the end, you will start to enjoy the business process even more.
