Brandon Allen

Brandon Allen – Founder of New Work Revolution

A difficult childhood instilled in Brandon Allen the desire to be an advocate for others.

What’s your story?

What I do now is coach leaders who have connected their brilliant minds to their compassionate hearts. How I got here: My passion was born out of dysfunction. My dad left before I was born. My mom spent the early part of my childhood abusing alcohol. At times I felt like I had no advocate which is why my mission is to be an advocate for people and their greatness. I started my career in finance in the corporate world, became a COO for an Inc 500 Co. and started what I am doing now.

What excites you most about your industry?

Being able to help talented people see their full potential and helping them step into the power of that potential.

What drives you in business to push beyond what other people consider normal?

The more I learn and know, the more I realize that I actually don’t know. The mysteries of life are fascinating and I love hearing people’s stories around why they do what they do.

What have been the most useful skills you have learnt and applied in your journey?

Tapping into my heart to go deeper with a client. Asking questions and being curious about what’s really going on in someone’s life. Understanding how to be a learner and not a judger. Learning how to be more compassionate with myself so that I can be that way for others.

What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?

Don’t take my actions or the actions of others at face value. There’s always more to see and understand.

Who inspires you?

My wife. My 4 daughters. God. All the leaders that I coach and have coached over the years.

What have you learnt recently that blew you away?

The concept of being a reactionary problem solver (which many leaders operate from) and being reactive to being a creator which is a more positive energy that moves us towards our vision. Most of get trapped in the daily grind of solving problems in short term ways vs. breaking down systems to ensure that they don’t have to continually touch the problem. It’s a completely different way to look at work from a leadership standpoint.

If you had your time again, what would you do differently?

Nothing. I have made plenty of mistakes and bad decisions as well as had wins and made good decisions. All of them make who I am now and I like who I am.

How do you unwind?

Music, reading on my deck, running/exercise. Spending time in my hot tub with my wife. Camping (not preparing for it but once I get there lol)

What is a major mindset change, belief shift or ‘ah ha’ moment that you’ve experienced in relation to your business?

To notice and be mindful of my relationship to everything that I do. My relationship to people, time, planning, etc. When you understand how you see these relationships, it’s easier to see where you might be getting stuck.

Everyone in business should read this book:

The Bonds that Make us Free by C. Terry Warner.

Shameless plug for your business:

We don’t push tactics down a leaders throat and assume we know exactly how to solve each problem through a simple tool or approach. We take the time to understand you and dive into why things are happening they way they are and walk you down the path of discovery of the true problem so that you can more easily identify the right solution.
