Bryan Koh, Executive Producer of Graphiss Media

For Bryan Koh what started off as a hobby, a one-man show has grown into a successful video production company with a team supporting him.

What’s your story?
What started off as a hobby to me back in 2010 turned out to be a fruitful adventure. It wasn’t easy running a one-man company in your 20s, the challenges to sell your services and to get businesses, it took me a while to get the hang of it. Fast forward 10 years, I now have a team supporting me to continue to grow the company through our work.

What excites you most about your industry?
What excites me most about my industry is the different stories that I get to know from the different clients in various industries. I am always constantly thinking of ideas to inject more creativity into our work. Therefore, whenever there are opportunities knocking at our door, I will be thrilled to bring them to life through our videos.

What’s your connection to Asia?
Even though we are based in Singapore, we also work with clients from countries such as Malaysia, India, and Vietnam.

Favorite city in Asia for business and why?
Apart from Singapore, I have always been looking to expand my company to other countries like Vietnam and Thailand. I feel that there are opportunities for growth in these countries and the diversity between our country and theirs will definitely enable us to produce more interesting videos.

What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?
As cliche as it sounds, the best piece of advice that I’ve received so far was from my college mentor, “Creativity comes from constant learning and do not be afraid to make mistakes.”

Who inspires you?
My working associates and partners. I am inspired by their hard work and achievements, it spices me up and motivates me to drive harder for my company.

What have you just learned recently that blew you away?
Working 20 hours a day doesn’t mean productivity. I believe in putting in regular hours for productive output and delivery.

If you had your time again, what would you do differently?
Forge partnerships with various business partners would be something that I would like to do in the long term.

How do you unwind?
Whenever I’m stressed out at work, I will take a jog down the reservoir near my house or around my office. Looking at the city skyline not only takes the stress off my mind but at the same time motivates me to work harder. I often feel recharged and able to generate better ideas for clients. Other than exercising, I also unwind by going for a good meal at the end of the week.

Favorite Asian destination for relaxation? Why?
I enjoy going to Thailand, Phuket. The endless sea view clears my mind and makes me feel relaxed.
