Cedric Bertelli believes that emotional peace is achieved through physiological learning and has developed a system to accomplish this.
What’s your story?
I was born in France and grew up hearing stories of my grandfather, who fought in the Resistance during WWII. His quiet courage and capacity to stay grounded through hardship shaped my understanding of resilience. Years later, while working in higher management for a luxury hospitality brand, I witnessed how many people — including myself — carried unresolved emotional pain that no amount of reasoning could ease. This led me to co-develop Emotional Resolution® (EmRes®), a process that helps people naturally resolve emotional patterns through the body’s innate intelligence — restoring calm, resilience, and authenticity.
What excites you most about your industry?
What excites me most is witnessing people rediscover that emotional peace isn’t something to be achieved — it’s something already within them. In the field of emotional health, there’s a growing shift from managing emotions to truly resolving them. Through EmRes®, I see people reclaiming their innate capacity for calm and clarity, often after years of struggle. It’s also inspiring to see science, education, and philosophy begin to converge — recognizing that healing isn’t just about the mind, but the intelligence of the entire body.
What drives you in your career to push beyond what other people consider normal?
What drives me is the desire to bridge the gap between lived human experience and neuroscience — to understand, through evidence and observation, how long lasting emotional pain truly resolve. I’m motivated by curiosity more than convention. When I saw people free themselves from anxiety and trauma simply by following their body’s innate sensory process, I knew this work had to be studied and shared. Through EmRes® and ongoing research collaborations with institutions like UCLA and UCSF, I’m driven to redefine what emotional healing means — beyond management, toward genuine physiological resolution.
What have been the most useful skills you have learnt and applied in your journey?
The most valuable skill I’ve developed is attention — not the kind that seeks to control or be right, but the kind that feels what is alive beneath the surface. In leadership, and now through EmRes®, I’ve learned to sense the tensions, silences, and fears hidden behind words. That awareness creates real connection and clarity. When we release the need to manage or fix, new possibilities emerge naturally. Whether guiding a team or supporting someone through emotional resolution, it’s the same principle: presence transforms more than effort ever can.
What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?
The best advice I ever received came from the French philosopher and hypnotherapist François Roustang, who said that real change happens when we shift from being a human being to a living being. That perspective transformed how I approach emotional healing. It reminded me that we don’t need to control or analyze our emotions — we need to feel them, to let life move through us. In that shift from mental control to embodied presence, transformation happens naturally. It’s the essence of EmRes®: trusting the intelligence of life itself to restore balance.
Who inspires you?
I’m inspired by thinkers who bridge science, philosophy, and lived experience. François Roustang taught me that healing begins when we return to being living beings rather than human doers. Lisa Feldman Barrett’s work on interoception and predictive coding gave me a scientific language for what I observe daily through EmRes®. Spinoza and Bergson remind me that life is not a problem to be solved, but a movement to be felt and embodied. Their insights continue to shape how I understand emotion, perception, and the intelligence of life itself.
What have you learnt recently that blew you away?
What struck me recently is how profoundly our perception of the world is shaped by interoception — the brain’s ongoing conversation with the body. Reading new research on predictive processing, I was amazed by how it confirms what we observe through EmRes®: emotions are not reactions to the world, but predictions the body is constantly updating. When we consciously feel our sensations, we give the brain new data — and the entire emotional pattern transforms. It’s humbling to realize that healing is not psychological effort, but physiological learning.
If you had your time again, what would you do differently?
If I had my time again, I would trust life sooner. For many years, I tried to control, plan, and understand everything — both in my career and in my emotions. It took time to realize that transformation doesn’t come from control but from surrendering to what is present. Every challenge I’ve faced has revealed something essential once I stopped resisting it. I wouldn’t change the path itself — only the pace at which I learned to listen, feel, and let life move through me.
How do you unwind?
I unwind by returning to simple things — spending time with my family, being in nature, and sharing quiet moments with our dog. Enjoying a glass of wine at the end of the day. Those small, ordinary moments are good for me.
What is a major mindset change, belief shift or ‘ah ha’ moment that you’ve experienced in relation to your career?
A major shift in my career was realizing that real transformation doesn’t come from control, strategy, or effort — it comes from attention. I used to believe progress meant pushing harder and knowing more. Over time, I learned that lasting change follows a simple movement: accept, adapt, act. When we accept what is present, we reconnect with reality. From there, adaptation arises naturally, and action becomes fluid and effective. Whether in emotional work, leadership, or daily life, I’ve seen that presence — not pressure — is what truly transforms.

Shameless plug for your business or career:
At the Emotional Health Institute, we help people resolve the emotional patterns that drive anxiety, fear, and self-sabotage — not by managing emotions, but by completing them. Through Emotional Resolution® (EmRes®), individuals learn to access the body’s innate ability to restore calm and clarity in moments of stress. Our work bridges neuroscience and lived experience, empowering people to move from emotional survival to genuine presence. Whether in therapy, education, healthcare, or leadership, EmRes® offers a simple, natural way to return to balance — because emotional healing is not a skill to learn, it’s a capacity to remember.
