Edric Lin heads up the team at Wanted.Jobs – Asia’s first recruiting platform powered by social referrals.

What’s your story?
Having been a market launcher at three other startups within big data and MarTech – I specialize in bringing disruptive technologies into new markets. I also spent 2 years at LinkedIn – helping companies in APAC adopt best-in-class social recruitment and social selling programs. Now leading the Southeast Asia team at Wanted.Jobs – Asia’s first referral-powered recruiting platform. I’m here to help companies win the talent war through AI, social referrals & employer branding.

What excites you most about your industry?
The 4th Industrial Revolution is fueling a hunger for disruptive solutions in the HR space. Be it the use of AI, big data or machine learning, the digital economy as we know it has seen the rise of what we call the “New Collar” jobs. Data scientists, developers, UI/UX designers are in demand across every sector and industry now. The opportunity to use technology and help companies tackle and embrace this revolution is what gets me up every morning!

What’s your connection to Asia?
I’m born and bred in Singapore 🙂

Favourite city in Asia for business and why?
In terms of government infrastructure, talent pool, market maturity and the overall business ecosystem – Singapore is unparalleled in Asia. We have an exceptional enabling environment for innovation & digital transformation for businesses here.

What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?
This is from my ex-boss – to face anything in life with a “growth mindset”. In a growth mindset, our abilities and skills can be developed through dedication and hard work. This view then creates a love of learning and a steely resilience that is essential for any kind of success.

Who inspires you?
My mother. Won’t elaborate much on this but I look up to her as a role model in how I live my life and treat people around me 🙂

What have you just learnt recently that blew you away?
Since I’ve been shopping for a new phone recently (been an iPhone user for the last 8 years), I’ve learnt that smartphones are incredibly overpriced! Highly recommend people to look at phones like OnePlus 6 and the Pocophone F1. Top ranges and premium specs at only ¼ of the prices of iPhones & Samsungs.

If you had your time again, what would you do differently?
I would have pursued my childhood dream in being a footballer.

How do you unwind?
Beer in hand, chips by the side, laying on the couch in my Manchester United kit watching them play at Old Trafford in the Premier League and Champions League.

Favourite Asian destination for relaxation? Why?
Japan: Ramen, sashimi, onsen & whisky.
