What’s your story?
After having worked in Corporate Hotel business for over 30 years, I started with my partner a new own hospitality company, helping owners and developers of hotel real estate with asset management, owner representation and project development. In current new climate we are excited to have pivoted in the difficult hotel sector and have started up 2 new ventures. This first is to offer third party operator management, which is basically white label hotel management and secondly we take the opportunity to convert existing non performing resorts into Medical Wellness Resorts and reposition them with a new Life!
What excites you most about your industry?
Hospitality Industry is exciting as it evolves and changes all the time. There are also various different asset classes and types of hospitality that have been added to the business in recent years offering new opportunities to expand upon.
What drives you in business to push beyond what other people consider normal?
What is fun with the current situation, that you can explore new businesses in the sector, as there are always ample ways to adapt, change and create new ventures. If one is confident of one’s experience in the business, then positive energy will create new projects and the network will create new partnerships.
What have been the most useful skills you have learnt and applied in your journey?
The Success and growth is can be accomplished by being able to exploit one’s network, expand and nourish your network. Secondly for each job to remain humble and complete the assignment with trust and loyalty as the quality of your last job determines your reputation!
What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?
Listen, listen, and well understand what your client or partner in business wants and expects from you.
Who inspires you?
The Dalai Lamma for sure, if we all could practise only a single part of what he teaches and understand what he says, we would have such a better world…….
What have you learnt recently that blew you away?
Accept change…….the current crisis has learnt us to not be overly anxious but to adapt and accept change that is coming and accept the present situation and understand that the past might not come back as it was.
If you had your time again, what would you do differently?
I know one trade and have done so for many years………..enjoyably….: “I fry eggs and make beds”………..If I had to do it over , I would have diversified myself more and possibly entered into different and or other sectors at the same time, instead of only one.
How do you unwind?
Unwind is easy and important ……..I do so mainly by doing sports , as first it calms the mind but at the same time also keeps your physically healthy. It is a combination of taking care of both your physical health and mental health ( this in addition to meditation).
What is a major mindset change, belief shift or ‘ah ha’ moment that you’ve experienced in relation to your business?
Not too long ago there were mainly only two types of hotels : business and leisure hotels…….that has been so for decades , now in the past 5- 10 years multiple new type of hospitality business have erupted , grown and developed : such as lifestyle hotels, wellness and medical resorts, mini hotels/ hostels , co living hotels, senior living communities, glamping resorts, eco resorts and so on…….etc , very exciting space indeed………
