Neelu Kaur – Corporate Facilitator of Neelu Kaur

Being downsized was a pivotal moment for Neelu Kaur who has since focused on helping others through his passion for leadership and wellness.

What’s your story?

My work is at the intersection of leadership and wellness. I incorporate social and organizational psychology with stress and energy management with group facilitation and individual coaching. In 2013, I was downsized from a very large company and I decided in that moment, I was NEVER going to have anyone tell me they don’t want or value me. I decided in that moment, I was the person responsible for my livelihood. I began down the path of incorporating my two most studied passions: Leadership + Wellness.

What excites you most about your industry?

I am at a very interesting intersection of empowering teams and individuals to bring their full self to work. We can no longer separate our professional and personal selves. Our lives are systems and I have a unique perspective in incorporating two parts: corporate and personal to live a life full of productivity, peace and purpose.

What drives you in business to push beyond what other people consider normal?

I am nothing NORMAL. I don’t even know what that means. When I was first shunned for bringing topics of stress, spirituality, wellness into the leadership space, I kept plugging along. NOW, it is all OK to discuss and I will be the educator to bring this to the masses in the corporate world.

What have been the most useful skills you have learnt and applied in your journey?

Relentless pursuit to fulfill my purpose – My purpose is to leave every interaction with another being having positively impacted them. I want each and every person I work with or team that I coach to walk away enriched. Also, being endlessly curious keeps me constantly learning and bringing different perspectives to organizations and individuals.

What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?

1- Get out of the way AND keep it moving. If I am rejected by someone or organization, I use this as feedback. 2- There is no such thing as Failure ONLY Feedback.

Who inspires you?

I have had so many teachers along the way – I am struggling to answer this question because their are just so many people that have inspired me. Spiritual teachers, academic professors, acts of kindness from random strangers.

What have you learnt recently that blew you away?

By simply relaxing the jaw and letting the tongue rest into the pool of the lower mouth, you are entering into the parasympathetic nervous system, allowing you to enter into alpha brain waves, allowing you to fully recharge in any moment where you are not resourceful.

If you had your time again, what would you do differently?

I would continue on and complete my PhD.

How do you unwind?

Movement, walking in nature, practicing and teaching Yoga.

What is a major mindset change, belief shift or ‘ah ha’ moment that you’ve experienced in relation to your business?

I live in a state of abundance so that when one door closes, I truly believe others open. I let myself feel disappointed if something doesn’t go right BUT I always believe it’s a source of feedback – I will be stronger and other doors will open.
