What’s your story?
My 25+ year career exemplifies financial leadership and strategic turnaround. Educated in Nigeria and Spain, my work at NDIC, then PBTG Consulting intervening in many institutions ignited my passion for corporate restructuring and resolving complex situations. I led comprehensive turnarounds as Interim CEO of several companies and, as CFO of St. Nicholas Hospital, secured vital funding to resolve a major financial impasse. As CEO of Halkon Investment, I won accolades and raised over $500 million and advised on significant M&A deals. Now, with AcquireEdge Partners LLC, I bring my proven expertise to the U.S. market, consistently transforming organisations.
What excites you most about your industry?
What excites me most about my work and industry is the thrill of transformation. I am deeply passionate about rescuing distressed businesses, converting complex financial challenges into paths for sustainable success. This involves not just fixing balance sheets, but driving strategic change and creating lasting value through meticulous financial planning, M&A, and capital raising. The dynamic and global nature of finance, especially in restructuring, fuels my drive for broader impact, evident in my U.S. expansion. Ultimately, the tangible result of guiding organizations from crisis to thriving stability, combining sharp financial acumen with operational excellence, is my core motivation.
What drives you in your career to push beyond what other people consider normal?
My drive to push beyond normal stems from a profound passion for transforming troubled situations into sustainable success. My early experiences rescuing financial institutions ignited an unwavering commitment to corporate restructuring and value creation. I thrive on the intellectual challenge of unraveling complex financial problems and implementing strategic solutions that yield tangible, positive impact. This intrinsic motivation to not just fix but elevate organizations, coupled with my ambition to expand my expertise globally, fuels my relentless pursuit of excellence and my consistent ability to achieve extraordinary outcomes in the finance industry.
What have been the most useful skills you have learnt and applied in your journey?
My most useful skills are financial acumen and strategic restructuring. My journey highlights a mastery of crisis management, honed by intervening in numerous distressed financial institutions. I consistently apply turnaround leadership, transforming failing entities into successes. Furthermore, my expertise in complex deal-making, M&A advisory, and high-value fundraising has been crucial. I seek to combine sharp analytical capabilities with operational efficiency and a global strategic vision, enabling me to drive tangible value and sustainable growth in challenging environments.
What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?
If you do not know where you are going, you are already there. Always have a Vision and goals and do something no matter how small daily to achieve your goals and objectives. Constantly measuring and re-evaluating them as you progress. It is either you are living your dreams or living someone else’s.
Who inspires you?
I have a long list of people I draw inspiration from. People like Warren Buffet for his investments acumen, Wilbur Ross, Henry Kravis. In Africa Pat Bassey, a renowned turnaround and restructuring expert, who taught me a lot in the Turnaround space, Tony Elumelu with his drive for Africapitalism.
What have you learnt recently that blew you away?
The speed at which AI is being integrated into everyday life as well as business is breath taking. In my discussions with people I always tell them that the quicker you adopt and adapt it into your personal routine as well as business the better, or you will be completely left behind.
If you had your time again, what would you do differently?
If I had my time again I would likely prioritize a more proactive and accelerated approach to a number of things I have gotten into. I would have also taken a more international/global outlook to my activities much earlier than I have. Otherwise most things I would do the same way all over again.
How do you unwind?
I play Golf even though due to tight schedules I have not improved my game much but I love the peace and quiet and serene feel a golf course provides. I also enjoy a good book and move over drinks as well as a day at the beach. A game of chess is also something I like.
What is a major mindset change, belief shift or ‘ah ha’ moment that you’ve experienced in relation to your career?
I believe this had to do with my first acquisition. I had tried for years to get it done but could not get deals across the line until I realised a key component I had been missing or mis-representing which totally changed the dynamics.

I would pick Stephen Coveys Seven Habits of Effective People. There are many books that come to mind but this cuts across sectors, businesses and occupation and has universal principles and its lessons are timeless.
