Vic Akosile’s mission is to transform the vision of business leaders.
What’s your story?
I’m Vic Akosile, a board advisor and strategist who helps founders and executives find clarity at inflection points. My career began in HR and Automation at places like Accenture, Aon, and Cloudflare, before evolving into board and advisory roles across tech, social impact, and international nonprofits. Within 90 days I went from zero board seats to serving on three boards, and now I’m building a portfolio career helping leaders make better strategic decisions.
What excites you most about your industry?
Boards sit at the intersection of strategy, accountability, and growth. What excites me is helping founders translate complexity into clarity—whether that’s scaling revenue, leveraging AI, or preparing for M&A. Done right, advisory work accelerates both business outcomes and human impact.
What drives you in your career to push beyond what other people consider normal?
I want to be remembered as someone leaders could always come to for perspective, and know it would be rock solid. That vision keeps me moving forward, even when the path is uncertain or costly.
What have been the most useful skills you have learnt and applied in your journey?
Pattern recognition, storytelling, and building frameworks. Whether in HR, M&A, or boardrooms, I’ve learned that leaders don’t just need answers—they need clarity structures that scale. Those skills turn scattered data and experiences into decisions.
More recently, it’s been leveraging AI for companies for both product and internal scaling.
What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?
“Go where you’re valued.” It reframed everything for me—success isn’t about convincing everyone, it’s about finding the right rooms where your presence creates transformation.
Who inspires you?
Founders who build against the odds and advisors who hold space without ego. Someone I admire is Trevor Noah. He has an amazing story that I resonate with, and his book reminded me that value is often about stepping on stage and performing, not just proving.
What have you learnt recently that blew you away?
That people don’t pay for time, they pay for transformation. A four-hour conversation can change the trajectory of a company—and that shift reframed how I see the value of my own work.
If you had your time again, what would you do differently?
I’d step into the advisor identity sooner, instead of waiting to feel “ready.” The truth is, clarity comes from performing in the role, not from endlessly preparing for it.
How do you unwind?
Journaling, long walks, and meaningful conversations. Writing helps me turn complexity into simplicity; walking clears my head; and conversations recharge me with perspective.
What is a major mindset change, belief shift or ‘ah ha’ moment that you’ve experienced in relation to your career?
Realizing that my obsession with scale was really a shield for self-worth. Once I accepted that direct presence and advisory time were valuable, everything opened up.
