Vincent Forino – Board of Director at NVESTR.IO

Vincent Forino has so much fun making a living it doesn’t feel like work!

What’s your story?

It was a hot day in August at the Hospital in New York….

Just kidding, I’ll fast-forward a little bit.

I always intended to be an artist since I can remember, all I loved to do was draw. Somewhere in High School my brother brought home a computer (as he was studying Computer Science) and I was hooked. I knew right away this was what I wanted to do. I wanted to work with computers.

What excites you most about your industry?

Seeing how far it’s come and the perception of Technology in the business world.

When I started Nextel’s were state of the art (Glorified Walkie-Talkie) and technology was viewed as a cost basis for most companies.

Now we have a handheld device that contains the whole sum of knowledge that humans have accumulated and technology is viewed essential part of companies.

What drives you in your career to push beyond what other people consider normal?

It’s fun. The old adage that if you love what you do you never work a day in your life. Whether it’s explaining requirements to Developers, putting together a funding request for a startup or working with C-Suite Executives to help them articulate their vision and put together a road map – I’m happy when I can lend my skills and talents.

What have been the most useful skills you have learnt and applied in your journey?

Always assume positive intent. At the end of the day we are all trying to do our best and other people don’t see the world (or situation) like you may. Projects don’t always get funded, companies downsize.

What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?

Always assume positive intent. People generally do the best they can with the resources available to them. Projects may not get funded, companies may need to downsize, it’s not personal.

Who inspires you?

My family. I know that is a bit clich√© but we have always been such a tight knit group and have had helped each other through thick and thin. I always think of some of the genuinely difficult times we’ve been through together and I draw so much strength from that.

What have you learnt recently that blew you away?

Approximately 4.2 percent of the world population owns Crypto currency as of 2023.

If you had your time again, what would you do differently?

I would of learned to jump on trends very early and to maximize the impact I can have have. Thankfully I was able to apply that in to Crypto and have been able to network with some of the top people in the sector.

How do you unwind?

My favourite thing is to go over and speak about scripture. The content is inexhaustible and every time you review it you come out with a new learning.

What is a major mindset change, belief shift or ‘ah ha’ moment that you’ve experienced in relation to your career?

My major ah ha moment came when I was introduced to Agile methodologies. Instead of doing all the planning and requirement gathering up front on projects the emphasis became to build a work.

Everyone in business should read this book:

The Lean Startup, Eric Reis – it really dives into the framework of validating an idea without committing large amounts of $ to it, getting to the heart of what your potential customers want.

Shameless plug for your business or career:

Having worked doing the hands on technical work and having managed budgets and people in technology projects, I understand the financial side and human side of accomplishing goals.

All of that is great, however the most valuable thing I bring to a team is my unique outlook. See, I’m Dyslexic and I genuinely see the world differently from other people which helps me come up with creative solutions for challenges.

How can people connect with you? T

The best way to reach out to me is on LinkedIn or one of the meet ups I attend.
