Growth shouldn’t be the goal. Longevity should be the goal.
The whole investment community whether it be the capital markets, Private Equity or especially Venture Capital (Angel etc) are obsessed with companies growing. And preferably at exponential rates. Their business models depend on it. Yet it causes business CEO’s to make irrational decisions that often lead to the collapse of what otherwise could have been great companies. That then lets down clients, staff and communities.
Don’t ask how can we reach a billion people, ask how can we be in business in a billion seconds? (32 years).
