What do you wish someone had told you at the beginning of your career? by David Brooks

History blesses us with 20-20 hindsight. One obvious answer would be to keep my eye on technology and the evolution of computers in the workplace to stay, if not on the cutting edge, at least the leading edge of those changes.

If someone had told me that the course of my career would take me in many different directions and that I should be proactive and take some risks to step into those opportunities, instead of waiting for them to come to me, I would enjoy my career even more and with an even greater sense of achievement.

About David Brooks

I moved from Toronto to the Niagara Region in Ontario in 2015 with my wife and 3 dogs. After commuting back and forth to Toronto for a few years I semi-retired. During the pandemic I saw how unprepared most people and organizations were to deal with lockdowns and mandates that affected us all. After reading that continued lockdowns would mean that 30% of businesses in Toronto would not be able to reopen I began learning about Business Continuity Management and have been certified as an ISO Auditor for the 22301 standard.
