What do you wish your prospects would understand before they talk to you?

First would be that design isn’t just purely visual. Design is about empathy and designing for the people it is intended for. It needs to be functional and pragmatic as well because how good it looks makes no difference when the user cannot use it.

Also, design starts with a conversation. For designers to do their best work, it is imperative to have an open conversation sharing about processes, objectives, budgets and timelines.
