My biggest regret is that, earlier in my career, I sometimes mistook urgency for importance.
I focused intensely on delivering outcomes, solving problems and moving quickly often when stepping back, listening longer or giving others more space might have created better outcomes.
Experience has taught me that leadership is not about having the fastest answer. It is about creating the conditions for the best answer to emerge and for others to grow in the process.
I wish I had understood that sooner.
