At the start of the pandemic my people hated it. Not being able to come to the office felt like a loss. Within months it had become simply how they worked — and afterwards I could not get it back. We never returned to pre-Covid attendance, and by then working from home was no longer a concession but something close to an acquired right. Not a complaint; much of it was an improvement. But the learning stands: nothing temporary stays temporary. Decide what you can live with permanently before you introduce it under pressure.
