People outside of my industry believe conglomerate corporations are extremely large organizations with thousands upon thousands of employees. When in fact, a variety of people have several business ideas and can form them into a conglomerate, with subsidiaries.
Different kinds of subsidiaries, human capital structures, and organizational structures exist. Just because you have a five, six, or even seven business ideas does not mean all of them should be tied into one firm. Separation can occur, but with common interests, to form a larger, but smaller company. For instance, five or six small businesses with two to five employees each, and global clients and/or customers. You can even exercise independent contractors or freelancers if you do not have the finances to bring on full-time or part-time employees initially.
