What’s more important? Talent, effort or luck? by Katrina Julia

I believe talent, effort, and luck are like a beautiful dance. I imagine the tango between two beautiful souls or a group hip hop class or an unfathomable ballet.

I believe in being limitlessly open. Sometimes, I find myself creating and receiving opportunities that required all three. I reflect on the fact that talent is sometimes innate, but may require dedication and discipline.

The result of patience, practice, and progress over time leads to excellence in many skills and fields. We sometimes forget this in an instant gratification-focused world.

Other times, it’s a combination of effort + luck.

For example, I created tons of videos while traveling the world full-time freely on all social channels from 2020-22. In addition, to the effort of creating the videos, I set up a profile on an influencer marketing platform that led a paid project from Google for close to 5 figures.

This project was for videos already done to be uploaded to YouTube from Instagram (which I had on my list to do anyway!). As a result, there was definitely luck as it literally came from the heavens as a surprise.
