A Day in the Life of Marek Niedzwiedz

Marek Niedzwiedz

What time do you rise and shine?

I wake up at 5:45am.

What is your morning routine?

Early mornings give me a head start – quiet time to think clearly before the day’s chaos begins. I often use this time for planning the day, reading and answering emails, sitting with a coffee to mentally align my priorities. It’s become a powerful anchor in my routine since 2 decades.

Do you have any non-negotiables that must get done in the morning?

Yes, two things: a quick full-body stretch and my keto coffee. The stretch helps me wake up my body and avoid stiffness, especially with so many hours spent at a desk or in meetings. The keto coffee gives me clean energy and focus without the crash.

How do you prioritise your day?

I have a light breakfast (no carbs) at 8am, then focus on strategic, high-impact decisions in the morning. Afternoons are for operational work, meetings, and execution. I also travel frequently, by train, car, or flights; so when I’m on the move, I adapt my schedule and use travel time for deep thinking, reading, or catching up on calls/emails.

Do you have a Task List? How do you use it, or what do you use instead?

Yes, I rely heavily on Google Calendar to manage my day. I block time for specific tasks and meetings, treating each with the same priority. Focus-tasking – one thing at a time – is crucial for me, especially since I juggle multiple roles as CEO, CFO, and board advisor across several companies. Multitasking kills quality and momentum.

Do you schedule breaks during the day?

Yes, though I keep it simple. I have breakfast around 8am and lunch at 1pm – both act as natural breaks to reset. I usually finish my main workday by 5:30pm to spend time with family. I return to work between 9pm and 10pm for deep, uninterrupted focus.

What does the end of your day look like?

I usually have dinner around 5:30pm, then unwind by watching Bloomberg for 30–45 minutes to stay sharp on global trends. Evenings are for family, especially spending time with my youngest and our two dogs. Around 9pm, I often do another hour of focused work while sitting with my wife.

How do you plan tomorrow and beyond?

Every morning, I spend 10–15 minutes planning the day – reviewing priorities and key tasks. Every Friday, I set aside 30–60 minutes for weekly planning, which helps me reflect, adjust, and stay ahead. Once a month, I dedicate 3–4 hours to plan the upcoming month strategically, aligning goals across all my roles and businesses.

What is your favourite break from work?

To be honest, I’m not a big fan of breaks; I genuinely enjoy what I do, so I often stay in flow for long periods. But when I do take a breather, it’s usually a quick walk with my dogs or a chat with my kids. Those moments are short but grounding, and they remind me why I work so hard.

In terms of your productivity, what do you wish you had known earlier?

I wish I had understood earlier that focused tasking beats multitasking every time. Trying to juggle too many things at once led to shallow work and constant context-switching.

Are you happy with your routine? What do you feel you should change?

Yes, I’m happy with my routine. My wife though wishes I’d work a little less!

What are your top 3 digital tools / apps you use most throughout the day?

  • Google Calendar
  • Chat GPT
  • Google Sheet
