Daniela Andrade Graduates with Master’s in Media, Cultural Data & AI, Emphasizes Fulbright’s Impact

In a recent LinkedIn post, Daniela Andrade shares her recent graduation from the University of Amsterdam with a Master’s degree in Media Studies, specializing in Cultural Data & AI. Andrade detailed how the program equipped her with digital research methodologies and data science skills, enabling a deeper understanding of user behavior across digital platforms.

Highlighting the practical nature of her studies, Andrade expressed enthusiasm for the hands-on experience gained. “It became a sandbox for me to test new digital research methods, work with large social media datasets, experiment with AI tools, and apply what I was learning to questions I was already deeply curious about outside the classroom,” she wrote.

Academic and Practical Integration of AI

Andrade noted the program’s open embrace of AI as an academic tool, emphasizing the transparency surrounding its use. This practical application extended beyond coursework, as she also dedicated time to building tools and conducting experiments during her Fulbright year.

“I built social media and content strategy tools, tested growth experiments, analyzed thousands of data points, and worked alongside founders and investors trying to understand what actually drives attention, trust, and business outcomes online.”

This period of intensive building and analysis, according to Andrade, was instrumental in shaping her post-graduate trajectory. She credits The Fulbright Program for funding this transformative year abroad, which allowed her to immerse herself in a new academic and cultural environment.

The Enduring Mission of the Fulbright Program

Reflecting on the 80th anniversary of the Fulbright Program, Andrade underscored its founding principle: fostering international understanding through educational exchange. She pointed out the program’s origins in post-World War II efforts to build peace and security through diplomacy and human relationships.

“There is something incredibly powerful about that idea: that mutual understanding, education, cultural exchange, and human relationships are also forms of security and diplomacy,” Andrade shared. She believes this mission is particularly relevant in today’s world, characterized by political polarization and global conflicts.

“Fulbright was built on the belief that when people live, study, and learn alongside one another across borders, it reduces fear, distrust, and misunderstanding.”

Andrade expressed deep gratitude to both Fulbright and the University of Amsterdam for providing the opportunities to develop new skills and explore her future career path. She concluded by hinting at upcoming announcements regarding her post-graduation endeavors, stating, “I’ve spent the last year quietly building, and I’m excited to share a lot more about that in the coming weeks :)”.
