Dennis Safiy – Campaign Manager

Not deterred by his lack of academic qualifications, Denni Safiy has moved from food delivery to digital marketing and is relishing the opportunities that presents.

What’s your story?

I quit my food delivery job in November 2019 to intern for a digital marketing company and I’m currently the campaign manager and person who teaches Facebook ads creation to the company’s clients.

What excites you most about your industry?

In this industry, you can work wherever and whenever in the world. All you need is a smart phone and a laptop. You can be by the beach relaxing and chilling and get your work done. That’s the best part about this industry. Not only that, I am exposed to many things that I never knew I could learn from. For example Value Investing, Real Estate investing and the different types of insurance products.

What is your connection to Asia?
I am born and raised in Sunny Singapore.

Favourite city in Asia for business and why?
Singapore! Because so far, comparing it  to other Asian countries, Singapore is the perfect centre for all businesses and trades. Also many big companies are opening up offices in Singapore despite the situation, which makes me confident that Singapore’s economy will soon boost up.

What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?
Never stop learning and adapting despite your academic qualifications. I did badly in my studies however due to the small lessons I picked up, I am pleased to  say that I’m a happier person now in terms of work and finances.

Who inspires you?

There are two people who inspire me. Cayden Chang, founder of Value Investing Academy Singapore and Marko, founder of Marko & Friends. These two people really inspire me with what they own currently and how average Singaporeans can do the same. Plus they have a lot of “walking testimonials” and graduates who managed to breakthrough in life by applying what these two great gurus have taught.

What have you just learnt recently that blew you away?

I recently learned about Value Investing and Property Investment. For Value Investing, you don”t simply buy the stock just because people speculate or even because it’s a big major company in the world, however homework has to be done in order to make the “trade”.

For property investing, I learnt about Singapore Properties, and there’s a lot of mind blowing factors and key takeaways. For example how you can actually own a piece of property with no money down. That really blew me away.

If you had your time again, what would you do differently?
I would definitely study more in school so that I could at least obtain a diploma and degree in marketing or business, which I do not have currently.

How do you unwind?
I unwind by watching my favourite anime, Naruto, or go for a short walk around and explore new places and cafes nearby me, as I’m living on the outskirts of town

Favourite Asian destination for relaxation? Why?

Thailand and Brunei! Thailand because it’s a visitor hotspot. Also the Thai culture and influence. I actually love the Thai culture a lot because I used to do Muay Thai when I was younger. Because of that, I was slowly influenced into the Thai culture by my coaches and sparring partners.

Brunei because I stayed there for a year for my National Service and I love it there! The people and food are awesome! Given the choice, I would love to retire there.
