In a recent LinkedIn post, Idris Akinlabi , PHRi™ MCIB highlights the urgent need for financial support for a promising mathematics graduate, Blessing Adisa, who has secured a fully funded Master’s scholarship in Italy. Akinlabi shared Adisa’s story to draw attention to the remaining financial gap required to make her academic dream a reality.

The Opportunity and the Obstacle

Blessing Adisa, a recent graduate with a First-Class degree in Mathematics from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria (CGPA: 4.76/5.0), has been awarded a two-year, fully funded scholarship to pursue her Master’s degree at the University of Calabria, Italy. Her academic passion is rooted in applied mathematics, particularly in using mathematical tools to solve real-world challenges. As Adisa stated in the shared post:

“My passion for applied mathematics grew through courses like Optimization Theory and Modelling. These subjects proved that mathematics is a powerful tool for solving real-world challenges. For my thesis, I designed optimization models to minimize commodity transportation costs. I am eager to expand this research to create impactful solutions for industrial problems.”

While the scholarship covers tuition and living expenses for two years, Adisa faces a significant financial hurdle to cover essential pre-departure and initial settlement costs. Akinlabi emphasizes that Adisa has already utilized student-tutoring savings and a soft loan from a friend to cover her enrollment fees and is actively processing document authentication, translation, and legalization.

The Financial Gap

The critical financial shortfall identified by Akinlabi, on behalf of Adisa, amounts to €3,122 (approximately ₦4,918,711.00 or USD 3,563.73). This sum is designated for essential expenses such as:

  • Visa Application Costs
  • Flight Ticket
  • Initial Settlement & Miscellaneous Expenses

Akinlabi shared Adisa’s direct appeal for assistance:

“To make this dream a reality, I am humbly soliciting financial assistance to cover the below funds: Visa Application Costs, Flight Ticket, Initial Settlement & Miscellaneous Expenses. Total Financial Gap: €3,122 (Approximately ₦4,918,711.00) and in USD3,563.73”

The post underscores the dual nature of academic achievement and the practical financial barriers that can impede even the most deserving students. Akinlabi’s act of sharing Adisa’s situation serves as a call to action for his network to support this aspiring mathematician.

A Call for Support

Akinlabi concludes by relaying Adisa’s gratitude for any form of support, whether financial, a like, or a reshare, to help bridge the financial gap. Adisa has provided multiple avenues for contribution, including:

  1. Gofundme: https://lnkd.in/ejSkvstc
  2. Dynaraise: https://lnkd.in/eMG2Zgp9
  3. Bank Account: First bank, Account name: Adisa Blessing Oluwafikayo, Account number: 3126731920

As Idris Akinlabi , PHRi™ MCIB notes, the collective effort of the LinkedIn community can play a crucial role in enabling talented individuals like Blessing Adisa to pursue their educational and career aspirations. The post is a testament to the power of professional networks in facilitating opportunities.
