In a recent LinkedIn post, Rahul Kumar explores a critical challenge facing many sales teams: the problem of timing in lead generation. Rather than a scarcity of potential customers, Kumar suggests the primary issue is an inability to identify and engage them at the precise moment they are ready to buy.

Kumar highlights the common frustrations experienced by businesses attempting to scale their outreach efforts. “You build outbound campaigns. You try partnerships. You experiment with channels. And still… You miss the people who are actually ready to buy,” he writes, pinpointing a significant gap in traditional go-to-market strategies.

The “Timing Problem” in Lead Generation

Kumar posits that the market is not lacking in potential customers, but rather in the tools and strategies to make these customers visible at the opportune moment. He contrasts conventional approaches, which often focus on accumulating more data and expanding outreach lists, with a more refined methodology.

“Instead of: More data, More scraping, More noise,” Kumar explains, “It focuses on: In-market signals, Real intent, Actionable workflows.” This shift, in his view, is fundamental to overcoming the timing hurdle.

Orange Slice’s Approach to Intent-Based Sales

The post introduces Orange Slice, a new initiative by Kumar, as a solution designed to address this specific market failure. According to Kumar, the platform aims to move beyond being just another sales tool by focusing on the precise moment of market readiness.

He describes the core functionality: “You describe your ideal customer. It listens across the internet. Finds the signal. And triggers action instantly.” This automated, signal-driven approach is presented as a way to ensure sales teams can act decisively when buyer intent is detected.

Shifting the Sales Paradigm

Kumar argues that this focus on intent and timely action represents a significant evolution in sales strategy. He contends that the future competitive advantage will not stem from the sheer size of a company’s contact database but from its agility in responding to emerging buyer interest.

“Because the future of sales won’t be about who has the biggest list. It will be about who moves first when intent appears,” Kumar asserts. While acknowledging that the product is in its early stages, he expresses confidence in this direction, noting, “Early days. But the direction is clear.”

Kumar also announced that Orange Slice is live on Product Hunt, inviting feedback from the community.
