In your first year in business, finding reliable, trustworthy people can be challenging. Sometimes, all you have is your instinct on whether the people you are working with will help the company thrive. If your employees are loyal and proactive, they can generate terrific ideas on improving the quality of your products and customer service. It creates a psychological domino effect because when the customers see that the employees are loyal to the company, it can give them the sense that they can trust the business.

By recognising these problems, you will find better solutions on how to address them. Furthermore, if you can figure out your company’s issues, it is easier to relay them to your employees. They can help you solve or find alternative solutions to problems.


During the first year of your business, it is understandable if you prefer to be hands-on and want to do everything by yourself. However, you need to remember that you have a team to help you do the job. You hired your team for a specific purpose, and as their leader, it is your job to oversee if they are doing it correctly. You need to trust your employees that they can complete their tasks correctly. By letting them do their job independently, you are also helping them grow in their field of expertise. 


Most employees take pride in their job, and giving them affirmation and appreciation will help boost their confidence. The more confident they are with their work, the easier it is for you to trust that they can deliver what you ask. Aside from that, it will also create a healthy environment in the workplace as they will be valued and appreciated.


In business, you can expect that there will be drastic changes and sudden turnarounds. As the leader of your company, you have the power to create contingency plans. You need to remember that it will not always be rainbows in business, so having a backup plan will help you adjust if things don’t go your way. Also, by creating a contingency plan, you can protect your employees as well.

We know that the initial years of business can be pretty tough. It would be best if you analyse everything to make sure that the operations are moving smoothly. However, you need to remember you have a team of worthy individuals that can help you continue your business. For everything to go well, the right leadership skills should first be developed. 

Remember, employees don’t just resign in search of a better salary. Some leave the company due a perceived toxic environment, while some feel undervalued. Make sure you can give them the environment they need and let them feel valued and appreciated under your care.
