Recently, I’ve been reminded of this firsthand, experiencing a whirlwind of both exhilarating professional triumphs and significant personal challenges. On the professional front, things have been exceptionally rewarding. The past few months have seen a surge in opportunities, including securing two new clients and booking two keynote speaking engagements for 2026. This growth is not only a validation of the work being done but also an exciting prospect for future collaborations and impact. Beyond client work, my involvement with improv has also reached new heights. Teaching classes twice a week and participating in a recent, highly successful performance has been incredibly fulfilling. Personal Hurdles: Legal Battles and Financial Strains
However, this period of professional expansion has coincided with significant personal challenges. Preparations for court next week are underway, not as a legal professional, but as someone navigating the complexities of divorce court. While the emotional aspects have largely subsided after a seven-year separation, the administrative side, particularly within the Swiss legal system, is proving to be a demanding process requiring extensive paperwork.
Adding to the pressure, I’ve also been actively pursuing overdue payments from two clients. This is a common, albeit frustrating, hazard of self-employment. Ensuring timely payments is crucial, especially when faced with mounting expenses, such as legal fees. It’s a stark reminder that diligent financial management and consistent follow-up are essential components of running a successful independent business.

This confluence of professional success and personal adversity has reinforced the importance of resilience, adaptability, and clear communication. It highlights the need for professionals to not only focus on growth and performance but also to build robust systems for managing personal responsibilities and financial workflows.
