What is your biggest regret in business? by Alejandro Dayan

Alejandro Dayan

My biggest business regret is career-related. I wish I had stepped outside finance for a period and taken direct responsibility for leading a business. That experience would have pushed me beyond my “finance brain” and helped me develop broader commercial and operational skills. It would also have been interesting to have a CFO alongside me, taking care of finance responsibilities and serving as a trusted partner for the questions that inevitably arise. Being a CFO has taught me about strategy, performance, decision-making, and execution. Still, owning day-to-day leadership of a business would have added invaluable perspective to my career.
